How to Correct Electrical Installation Data in Catalonia’s RITSIC

Engineer checking RITSIC documents for a low-voltage electrical installation in Barcelona

If the RITSIC record for your low-voltage electrical installation contains an error, do not choose a procedure based only on the field that looks wrong. First determine whether it is a non-substantial registration error, a change in the holder’s fiscal identity or a discrepancy involving the installation’s technical characteristics. Each situation follows a different route.

As a practical rule, an admissible address error or misspelt holder’s name may be corrected through the registration-data form. A different DNI, NIF or CIF normally requires a change of holder. Errors involving use, CUPS or technical characteristics may require a modification procedure or, in some cases, deregistration followed by a new commissioning registration. Photovoltaic generating installations have a specific exception for certain power and voltage errors.

Choose the procedure according to the type of error

A specific form for correcting non-substantial data in registered low-voltage installations has been available since 11 May 2026. It is intended for holders of installations located in Catalonia and may be submitted at any time. It does not replace the separate procedures for changing the holder, modifying an installation, deregistering it or registering its commissioning. It is also different from requesting a duplicate of a lost document. [1] [2]

Use the correction form when the amendment concerns permitted registration details and does not change the holder’s fiscal identity or the installation’s technical nature. If the DNI, NIF or CIF changes, use the change-of-holder procedure. If the incorrect entry describes the physical installation, its authorised characteristics or its regulatory history, establish how the discrepancy arose before choosing between a technical modification and deregistration followed by a new registration. [2]

RITSIC is Catalonia’s register of technical industrial-safety installations. It should not be confused with RASIC, which records authorised industrial-safety agents and companies. RITSIC includes information such as the installation’s location, holder, technical characteristics, competent technician and installation company. Correcting its records is therefore not the same as carrying out or legalising physical electrical work. [3]

  • Floor, unit or another admissible address error: registration-data correction.
  • Incorrect name or company name with the same fiscal ID: registration-data correction.
  • Different DNI, NIF or CIF: change of holder.
  • Incorrect use, installation type or CUPS: substantial data issue.
  • Incorrect power or voltage: technical assessment, subject to the photovoltaic exception.

What the correction form can and cannot change

Permitted non-substantial corrections include the floor, unit, municipality, street and the holder’s name or company name. A name correction is only appropriate when the fiscal identity remains unchanged. The form cannot be used to replace one person’s or company’s DNI, NIF or CIF with that of another holder. [2]

There are also restrictions on changing several address components simultaneously. Under the official procedure, this route cannot change the street and municipality together, the street and building number together, or the building number and municipality together. A broad discrepancy may indicate that the record relates to a different installation rather than containing a simple typographical error. [2]

Before submitting anything, compare the RITSIC registration number and address with the property’s standardised address and the original electrical documents. Check the street, number, municipality, floor and unit separately. Do not divide a larger correction into artificial submissions to bypass the form’s limits; clarify the identity and history of the installation instead.

  • Confirm that the registration number belongs to the correct premises.
  • Compare every part of the address separately.
  • Check that a name correction retains the same fiscal identification number.
  • Treat a different fiscal ID as a change of holder, not a spelling correction.
  • Investigate extensive address differences before filing the form.

Substantial technical errors and photovoltaic installations

Substantial data include the installation’s use and type, service voltage, maximum admissible power, installation company, designer or works director, inspection body and CUPS supply-point code. These fields cannot be amended through the ordinary non-substantial correction form. If incorrect data originated in the commissioning registration, the official guidance says it may be necessary to deregister the installation and register it again correctly. If the discrepancy comes from a later extension or alteration, the installation-modification procedure applies. [2]

Photovoltaic generating installations are a specific exception. An error in generation power or voltage may be corrected through the form if the ELEC-11 certificate is provided. This route addresses a documented registration error; it must not be used to declare physical alterations or extensions that have not been properly documented and registered. [2]

Correcting RITSIC does not automatically amend the Registre d’Autoconsum de Catalunya, known as RAC. If the same photovoltaic data are also wrong in RAC, they must be corrected through the applicable RAC procedure. The holder is responsible for ensuring that the common information in both registers agrees with the electrical certificate and the installation as actually built. [2] [7]

  • Compare power and voltage across RITSIC, ELEC-11 and RAC.
  • Check whether the error already appears in the technical certificate.
  • Distinguish a transcription error from a physical extension or alteration.
  • Do not use a data correction to legalise unregistered electrical work.

Documents to check before applying

Start with the RITSIC registration receipt or certificate, the electrical installation certificate, the CUPS, the holder’s fiscal details and evidence supporting the correct address or other amended entry. Also review the project or technical design report where one exists. For a photovoltaic installation, compare the ELEC-11 certificate and the RAC registration with the RITSIC record. [2] [5]

The exact supporting documents depend on the field being corrected. The official information refers to a declaration of responsibility signed by the holder, legal representative or authorised agent; a certificate issued by an authorised installation company where applicable; ELEC-11 for the photovoltaic exception; and additional evidence supporting the amendment. Check the active form rather than assuming that every attachment is required in every case. [2]

The holder must retain the RITSIC registration receipt and the applicable technical documentation throughout the installation’s useful life. Extensions and modifications must also be documented and registered. Once the correction has been processed, keep the updated evidence with the project or technical report, certificates and previous records so that the installation’s documentary history remains clear. [5]

  • RITSIC registration receipt or certificate.
  • Electrical installation certificate.
  • Project or technical design report, where applicable.
  • CUPS and the holder’s fiscal details.
  • Evidence supporting the corrected address or name details for photovoltaic installations.

How to submit, track and verify the correction

The procedure is exclusively electronic. Accepted identification methods listed by the Generalitat include idCAT Mòbil, an individual digital certificate, a company certificate and a certificate for a person linked to an organisation who has representative authority. Documents sent through other channels do not establish a valid filing date, except where the officially provided alternatives for a system outage apply. [2]

The registration-data correction is currently listed as free of administrative charges and is considered communicated when it enters the electronic register. The system generates a communication identifier and an entry-register number; download and retain both. The official source does not provide one universal completion period for every correction, so successful submission should not be confused with final verification of the file. [2]

You can monitor the application through Canal Empresa, the Estat de les meves gestions service or telephone 012 using the identifier and the holder’s DNI or NIF. When processing is complete, verify the amended field and compare it again with the electrical certificate, CUPS, technical documentation and RAC where relevant. Forms, validations, charges and identification methods may change, so consult the current Canal Empresa page before applying. [2]

  • Open the current electronic form and identify yourself.
  • Attach the documents relevant to the particular correction.
  • Review all entries before signing and submitting.
  • Save the communication identifier and entry-register receipt.
  • Check the final record and archive the updated evidence.

Frequently asked questions

Can I correct a RITSIC address free of charge?

The registration-data correction is currently listed without an administrative charge and can amend certain address components. However, restrictions apply when changing the street, building number and municipality in combination. Check the current Canal Empresa form before filing because requirements and charges can change.

Does correcting a company name count as changing the holder?

Not necessarily. A misspelt name or company name can be corrected if the same NIF or CIF is retained. If the fiscal identification number changes, this is not a simple data correction and the specific change-of-holder procedure should be used.

What should I do if the power shown in RITSIC is wrong?

For an ordinary installation, power is substantial technical data. You must establish whether the discrepancy requires an installation modification or, depending on its origin, deregistration followed by a new commissioning registration. For a photovoltaic generating installation, the correction form may exceptionally be used with the ELEC-11 certificate; RAC must then be checked separately.
