RITSIC (Registre d'Instal·lacions Tècniques de Seguretat Industrial de Catalunya) is the official telematic platform of the Government of Catalonia managed via Canal Empresa for the registration and certification of industrial and commercial technical installations.
What is RITSIC and why is it mandatory?
Its primary purpose is to ensure that all technical facilities comply with active Industrial Safety Regulations (REBT for electricity, RITE for HVAC, RIPCI for fire safety) before utility companies (Endesa, Naturgy) supply power or gas.
Installations Subject to Mandatory Registration
- Low Voltage Electricity (REBT): Electrical systems in commercial premises, offices, and industrial units.
- Air Conditioning & Heating (RITE): Thermal systems with power output over 5 kW.
- Fire Protection Systems (RIPCI): Extinguishers, hydrants, smoke detectors, and automatic sprinklers.
- Gas & Pressure Vessels.
Step-by-Step Registration Procedure
- Site Inspection: A Chartered Engineer examines the physical installation.
- Technical Design Memory (MTD) or Project: AutoCAD plans, single-line diagrams, and safety specs are drawn up.
- Installation Certificate: Issued by an authorized certified installer.
- Online RITSIC Registration: Fee payment and official submission via Canal Empresa.
Important: Without a valid RITSIC registration code, utility companies will not connect grid power, and Barcelona City Council will not grant the business opening license.
